Illustration Friday: Tattoo

Yes, tattoos may be alright for some folks,
But don't stick my flesh with those inky pokes.
Won't sport skin art of 'Mom' or 'Dubya Bush'
On my upper arm, left ankle, or tush;
No tasteful rose, no swaying hula girl...
Don't ever intend to give it a whirl.
'Tis true in whatever form, art is art,
But I've no canvas on my fleshy part.
Not worried 'bout contracting a disease;
Just don't stick me with any needles, please.
--------
Been busy... not complaining... a good sort of busy... fun, but time-consuming, projects at work... family things and such. Tried several times to come up with something for the topic... false starts, all. But I'm determined to put a post up on every topic.

It really is true... tattoos do nothing for me. I don't know. They just don't excite me. Not that I object to others doing what they want to their bodies. Enough of this. Peace, everyone.

I don't care for tattoos either.It may be that I was influenced by my dads' tattoo.While in the Navy, he got a large tattoo (it covers his forearm) of a cowgirl with shorts on, sittin on a fence.Over time, I don't know what happened, but she now looks like a chunky man with a mustache! My Dad is 77 now, and this has always been a big regret for him.

Reading your post, I just thought, a really great idea for this "NO Tattoos" visual. A person/body area with a PostIt note, slapped on (yellow and curled bottom etc.) and on the note could be a hand drawn facimile of a tattoo saying no tatoos, or better yet, the tattoo gun in a red circle with the "no" diagonal line through it, like the no smoking symbol. The whole point would be the "temporary" PostIt note.

I enjoyed your previous posts, nice work.

I'm with you, Twissel... This has been the worst IF (IMHO) yet...

Nor me - as I were a kid, tattooes were for sailors and hells-angel-rockers. But it is my prejudice - maybee. I can see there's a lot of people, who gets some nice tattooes for now, and everybody is getting a tattoo. But - I think: How would you have it with the tattoo, when you're old and grey? But I like the images of tattooes, as long I myself don't need get it.

LOL! Love your poem! I have to agree. That's why I just have a virtual tatoo, created only because of this week's topic!

I totally get the artistic expression, but now it seems like a lot of people get tatoo's to fit in. It's trendy.

ha ha--I love it--the poem! very clever. Yeah, I have to agree, they too aren't for me, yet I'm intrigued and don't mind designing them for fun. and yeah, how strange--they used to go against the norm but are now quite trendy (which I suspect will result in lots of $ for lazer removal specialists in the near future).

Nice graphic! And tattoos are not for me either. I have only seen one or two that I liked.
And my two kids respected my views on tattoos enough that they refrained as well, even though lots of their friends have them.

I had a difficult time coming up with something for this topic, too, since I also have no interest in the subject. Although while looking at your post, perhaps a good one would be a tattoo of the word tattoo crossed out in a circle... as in "no tattoos". :-)

Glad you made it in.

It was a tough topic. Why not make it into an anti-topic? At least you used your own spin on it!

Nice piece. I think I am one of the few men in my family without some type of tattoo.

Can I post even if have a a tattoo (or two)? I'm glad you found a way to post something this week. I know there have been times when I've been so busy, but I just don't want to miss a week. As far as tattoos go...well, I got mine when I was older after really wanting to do it for many, many years. I really like both of them - a sunface on my lower back and a stylized scorpion on my ankle. Weird - they're like friends to me, and it makes me happy to look at them (although the back is kinda hard to see). But that's enough...I don't dig the look of ink all over the body. Something for everyone, right?

I don't like tattoo on myself either. :)

this was a difficult one for me also, plus because of time restaints. I finally had to tell myself it's ok to miss a week here and there. So i missed last week.
your family always comes first.
I don't have a tattoo but my son does. My feelings are a bit mixed at times on this subject.

I'm glad you got in under the wire. A very well written poem. Tommorrow's word will have to be a better one.

This is quite succinct.. TWISSELMAN WILL NOT BE INKED!!! Good bold design/ message, and I enjoyed your lyrics. I presume you must buy the transfer stick-on variety of tattoo instead then? ..:::o

I am also in the 'tattoos-are-not-for-me' camp. When I first saw the topic, I knida crinkled my nose and thought 'how am I going to do that?'. I ended up having a little fun with it.

I like that you had the guts to post this...while I wouldn't have one myself, I do appreciate the artform and the artists who make intricate, colorful designs on skin. Awesome poem. I am with you, trying not to miss a week - keeps me sharp.

I am with you. Tattoos are just not my thing either. My tattoo was completely fictional.

Good for you, great post!
