California may have its faults (no pun intended... or maybe it was), but one of the beautiful things about Spring in Central California is the appearance of the wildflowers on the green hillsides.
This Spring the poppies have started to show, now only in small groupings. If the weather conditions are right, some magic combination of wet and sunny days, the hills and pastures veritably explode in carpets of golden poppies and velvety blue sky lupine.
It was a very wet March, colder than usual, and we will probably have to settle for spots of color here and there. We'll take what we can get.
Peace to all.

Sounds lovely. I love the vibrant yellow-here is hoping my flowers pop up soon too. Cheers!
Very soothing. I like how the flowers seem to glow. Very nice indeed.
What a fabulous image! I love the vibrant yellow! (one of my favorite spring colors!)

Wow, I'd love to see that colour explosion...still you've managed to show it in this illustration, beautiful and vivid.
Beautiful illo. I get a real feel for spring.
Love the warm tones here. Makes me want to visit CA sometime. Keep up the great work and peace to you as well!
beautiful illustration, so airy!
Breathtaking. I love the misty light the poppies are emanating, as if enchanted.
What? I didn't think you had actual seasons in California! (just kidding...) Vibrant and luscious image!
brilliant color choice! Can't wait to see all the flowers pop up - to much rain though...it was a crazy month in March for around here (California)
You're accomplished at creating a picture with words as well as with paint. Beautiful illustration AND prose.

Vibrant. I love how the flowers look like they may be coming up from the ground.
Radiates gorgeousness!
Sounds beautiful. Love the colors on this piece. Great job.
Bright, beautiful spring images.
this is beautiful!! Love the coloring style and mood!!
I really like the shades of yellow in this illustration. Reminds me of our daffodils. Just today, they bloomed for the first time this year. The weather was calling for snow and I'm hoping the daffodils won't freeze. But, that's spring in Northeast Ohio.

i love the color tones and the closer look of the flowers.
Sounds so fine 'a carpet of golden poppies'. Your illo reflects your thoughts so well, they are butterey warm, beautiful!
Oooh...so pretty! The yellow is so warm and sunny against the wet looking green. I like the broken border you used...it's a great composition.
Beautiful painting. The yellows are so pretty and striking. We've had a completely dry march here in NH except now its snowing. go figure
beautiful. california poppies are one of my favorites: they like tissue paper...and you've depicted it wonderfully.
Love this... FULL color. I miss the California Poppies... I don't think my small batch of annuals is going to come up this year... although in Texas, they tend not to show up until it is really hot. Did you see the bear nosing a California Poppy at msnbc's multimedia page (Animal tracks)?
These are gorgeous! Beautiful job capturing them. The weather here has largely been too uncertain for the flowers to start blooming yet. It snowed today! Thankfully, none of it stuck to the ground. I'm looking forward to seeing such blossoms as the ones you've painted! :0)
I'd love to see the hillsides exploding with colour in sunny California. The daffodils have appeared for their brief visit where I am, and this pic reminds me of them. Great composition and colour/ light.
You captured these delicate flowers beautifully!!! LOVE the strokes and the colors...
FANTASTIC!
Really lovely image! Nicely done.
Makes me miss central California.
What a lovely illo! Here, it's tornado weather. We're gearing up for a severe threat tomorrow. I'm really dreading it!
HEllo, great burst of orange and yellow!
Lush! If digital art can convey that, you've made it happen. These flowers are just perfect.
