In honor of that Greek mathematician dude Archimedes (287-212 BC), who discovered (or mebbe just gave a name to) the Law of Hydrostatics; said discovery made as he stepped into his bath and observed the displacement of water.
You'll have to go elsewhere if you want an explanation of the Law. My mother was the mathematician in the family... not I.
Oh, he also surmised that if he had a lever long enough (and someplace to stand) he could move the Earth.
Peace, everyone, and don't wait til Saturday night to soak in the tub.

OH! Archimedes was born in Siracusa, Sicily.
Beautifull city!
Great illo!
Arrivederci!
Cata.
Another winner here! I envy those with good math skills. You know, the bath idea is a good one too, now that my summer break has finally begun.
This looks like the bathtubs in England. What a great concept for this topic.
nothing like an O'furo (hot bath in japanese) extremmley hot. and he has a wonderful view to enjoy it by
Hey, is that the Parthenon outside his bathroom window? Great take Twis!
Archimedes was the archetypal creative dreamer! I love the wonderful stone textures of the interior with that idyllic scene outside the window. The look on his face is priceless... the "aha!" moment!
Love that Archimedes Principle! It saves on the water bill.
What's messing my brain up is the lever and the earth thing. It's like trying to pick up the chair you are sitting on with your feet off the ground.
Great image!
Loud and clear. A body placed in water displaces an equal amount of something or other... Your mother would know. I like the illustration... but prefer to displace the water in a cool pool. The earth and lever concept is fantastic.... I had'nt remembered that one at all. I guess if we do colonize the moon we could try. All together now.....!
Neat view from his window.
Very Clever T-man! I love that lever idea! I can see it now! Won derful work!!!
Funny! I'm not a math whiz either, but I can see he didn't do his before hand.... Nice piece.
I learned something from your bathtub discovery post. Nice illustration, as usual. Wow...living above a bakery. What a way to wake up every morning, to the smell of maple bars.
Hahaha- awesome- what a range you have- from Archimedes to The Three Stooges?? [Saturday was the Stooge's only bath day]
Excellent illustration!
Nice Illo!!! Keep it up!!
very illuminating.. my poor brain skipped a beat in terror at the mention of math.. though I suspect that artists are (natural) mathmeticians... with an inborne fear of numbers we simply... sense the rightness or wrongness... or.. maybe not... (grin)
very nice piece... Im glad i have a curvy tub... ! Great view for him to enjoy too !
