Illustration Friday: E is for...
Elephant in the living room...
Gotta say I wasn't elated when I read this week's topic. I mean it didn't evoke any real emotion in me. I earnestly tried to ignore the first thought that entered my mind... an elegant elephant eating eggplant in an Edsel. So I started thinking about people with E as one of the intials in their names. Einstein, Eminem, or ... say, how about Edgar Allen Poe? An eclectic mix of personalities, I know. As a matter of fact, I endeavored to render a likeness of that great American poet and originator of the detective story...
... but my initial attempt didn't excite me all that much. May eventually finish it and post it to the other blog.
So. I thought and thought, and all sanity eluded me. That damned elephant came trumpeting back into my train of thought, blasting my eardrums. "Egads!" I exclaimed, exhausted. "Enough! Let me extricate the beast from my brain!" So 'ere you go. Entertain yourself in his living room.
Peace, everyone.

Very nice illustrations!!
Entertained by your Elephant which might push you over the Edge :)
But where's the Edsel?
I love the jaded expression on the elephant's face. Very expressive.
Yeah, no Edsel... got too tired thinking of the e's. The expression on this pachyderm is probably on my face, too, at this point.
Edging Edge ... Es are Evil!
Good elephant, there Twisselman! And I think you did a great job on Poe, too.
Now about that Edsel... quote the Twisselman... "Nevermore...."
The elephant works for me - nice job! And you spent some time in the e section of your dictionary...impressive. Poe is nicely done as well.
I love the expression on that elephant and edgar looks pretty good himself. Excellent illustrations!~
Excellent Elephant Embibing in Excess, Enjoying Electric Energy. Edsel Escaped Execution, Egad!
There's an elephant in the living room and a tipsy one at that. He's adorable and so your post and I like edgar too.
An elephant sitting in the chair with a glass of wine, well it could'nt hve happened to a better person. After this weekend's blogger probs I could follow his example. Like your Poe.
I wasn't Elated about this week's topic Either. I love your elephant...he has such a great Expression. You should do an Einstein portrait someday. Your style would be great for Einstein.
LOL I like both!
I like both too, but really like your style.
Did you eliminate the edsel, or did the enormous elephant in the room evict it?
I enjoyed your enlightening post. Great expression, energy, elephant and Edgar! ChEErs!
Edgy elephant looks like he needs to hit the stair-master. Love the expression on his face. Great job
your work is always exciting!
Excellent. Encore.
A very good image. I like the light and the colours, the chair colour is yummy.
Well, your elephant actually evoked a spontaneous connection to the Dean Martin CD we purchased on a whim at Starbucks this weekend...remembering his TV show (I'm almost that old) and his martini. I like it! He looks perfectly normal chillin' after a long day of stampeding across the urban savannah. Edgar looks good too!
The pink shorts got me to thinking.... if he has too amny of those drinks, does he begin to see pink humans?
I always love you characatures. (with a bit of honorable envy). Keep 'em coming!
Awesome! Love those shorts!...and, I like Edgar too! I loe the feel of all of your illustrations! Great inspiration!
EEEExcellent post! Love the story and the elephant in pink shorts!
LOL, though he doesn't look he's enjoying that martini like one should!
Cool stuff. I love the elephant in the living room. The one that no one wants to talk about. :-)
love
haha - i like the martini in his hand - good stuff
Thanks, everyone, for all your kind comments. Looks like I'll have to figure out a way to get an Edsel in the next topic. Anyone got some good source material?
Your elephant exudes exasperation. Executed with such excellence and expression. Sorry i can't help myself.
lovely illustration and funny! the elephant looks a bit pickled.
I really do love the Poe illustration. He is one of my favorite American authors.
The elephant looks like me on a Sunday night! I love the colours used. Way cool!
As always wonderful....your style is just great!
Love that big E guy...I think I dated him once, he always stepped on my toes when we danced...:)
Smooch,
The Tart
Oh those are W O N D E R F U L ! ! ! What a talent! Annnd, you are very funny!
I like 'em both..and I can't wait to see what you do with an Edsel!
Both are good ideas and follow through! Very good!
i want to keep looking at your Es
Do elephants see 'pink elephants' when they're drunk?
Anyway I really wanted to thank you for your comment on my elizadeath page (epitaph). I was looking for some inspiration about another project and your post gave me the answer. I need to take a walk out to the cemetery!!!
Thanks a million!
Oh, the elefant seems funny and tired xDD
Love you elephant. Very elegant.
Damn, I hadn't thought about drawing an Edsel until I saw your blurb. Which is crazy because we own 2 Edsels (1958's). Silly me!
