The Pacific gray whales pass through Monterey Bay twice a year; once on their way to Baja for the winter, and again as they head back to the Alaskan waters for the summer. Whale watching trips are a great way to see these cetaceans up close. I'll limit my watching experience to the deck of the boat... not from
under the sea, thank you very much.
Peace, all.

Sounds like a great idea to stay out of the water, especially with these big guys around.
Wonderful watercolor.
Really beautiful!!! i love whales!
like the way u made it look like streams of light filtering thru the water nice work
Wov, what a great piece. Very powerful image and colurs. The lonely one, that hit me when seeing this.
Very nice whale. Also the textures and perspective!
The whale is very nicely rendered (if I can call it that) but I'm especially impressed by the ambiguity and subtlety of the background. (But don't let me trail off into pretentious artspeak...)
Very pretty!
Enlarging it really shows the beautiful detail. Wonderful piece!
Nice!...yes, do like the detail in the enlargement!
Oh! It's beautiful.
I love the diffused light.
love
Very realistic looking whale and an amazing lighting effect underwater!
beautiful watercolor!!
Great play with the underwater light effects, some of the best I've seen of the Twisselman Light Effects Dept, and nice feel to this bouyant giant of the depths. A cool suspended feel to this picture.
What a majestic, ancient looking creature this is! I love how you created the skin...and the background has that feeling of shifting light and currents. Fine work!
beautiful illo!
Very very nice work! Love it!
Beautiful...and very real! Fantastic!
Once again, a fantastic illustration. It would be even more fantastic to see one of these swim by in real life. We don't get too many whales here in NE Ohio. (At not least, not since Sea World moved away).
8^)
You must be a very gentle person, all of your paintings emote a love of nature and have such a calming feel to them.
Ummm - wow! Okay so you are amazing. What great light and colors. This is really just stunning. I really can not get over the lighting effects and the skin on the whale. Awesome. . .
Wow man, how lucky are you? This is GREAT by the way!
Such a big guy. He looks happy too!
We will create a big big pond 4 him over at the Library Pond! Come on over 4 the details!
Smooch,
The Tart
Such a happy illo!
That's a big beautiful determined looking whale. The enlarged version is a stunner.
OUTSTANDING!
Do you follow the grey whale's migration through the web site Journey North?
Beautiful.
Beautifully done. Love the whales and your depiction of them. Great job!
Just browsing your archives and admiring your work. I love this piece. I move to the Ventura area, just north of L.A. about four years ago. I LOVE marine life and the ocean. I go whale watching a few times a year, and am always on the look out for dolphins, seals and the like. Someday I hope to vacation in the Baja during the whale birthing time and check that out. Do you ever get to the L.A. area?
